Alpinestars S-MX R Boots
Sizing Information:
The overall fit/size of this new style seems “true” to their published size chart (see below). Personally, I’ve always found Alpinestars to be more roomy through the foot and instep than other race boots (such as Sidi), but this style feels more form fitted to me. I’d say the width is no wider than D (call it C or D). The calf size is somewhat adjustable but not highly adjustable, so those with very large calves will have trouble with fit.

In trying on these boots, I find I like them more than I like other Alpinestars boots. The boots feel more form fitted (see my comments above), and feel like they have a comfortable pre-curved shape for sport bike riding. Alpinestars lists a bunch of reasons for the improved fit in their literature (see above), some of which is unintelligible to me, but I will admit I feel a big improvement in the overall fit. Like other top quality race boots, these offer a host of protection features. The molded protectors on the shin, ankle and heel areas give the boot a lot of style too. I also like the molded-in venting. It looks like it would provide a great deal of venting in hot weather. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see some good close-up pictures.
