Alpinestars Supertech R Boots
Sizing Information:
The overall fit/size of this new style seems “true” to their published size chart (see below), so if you are comfortable with a certain size from previous boots, then choose the same size. I’d consider the width of the men’s sizes to be normal to slightly wide (D or E).

The Supertech R boot is Alpinestars most advanced race boot. There are a lot of technical features to this boot that are pretty well covered by looking at the list of feature bullets above (so I won’t repeat those). The approach Alpinestars takes with this boot is a bit different than the others such as Sidi. All the good race boots offer a mechanical design that allows the rider to flex their foot forward and backward (shifting, walking, etc) while restricting motion from side to side (like the kind of motion that would break ankles). Sidi and the others have very complicated external plastic/metal components for this purpose. The plastic cladding in these designs also provides some impact protection as well. With the Supertech, the motion controlling pieces are incorporated into an inner bootie. You put the bootie on first and then step into the outer boot. This design allows for a more sleek look. This is accentuated by the leather gaiter around the top edge of the boot. With sport leather pants (or a suit’s legs) tucked in the boot, the boots almost look like part of the one piece suit. I’m not sure why, but I think it is a really neat look. Of course the Supertech has the usual external plastic armor pieces on the shin, heel and calf. The boots come in standard and vented versions, so you can pick a design to best match your climate. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see some good close-ups of the inner bootie design and the other features of the boot.
Note about Colors: The White/Red boot is vented (has perforated leather on the foot). The distributor’s ‘09 catalog contains a mis-print saying this color is not vented, so other vendors may show this boot as non-vented.
