Alpinestars Durban Gore-Tex Boots
Sizing Information:
These boots are sold in US men’s sizes, so you can choose the size you normally wear in street shoes/boots. I found the foot area in these boots to be more roomy than most… not necessarily more wide than other boots, but just more roomy across the instep and the top of the foot. The side buckles have a wide range of adjustability, which should work for most anybody except folks with very large calves.

Well, I personally don’t have any experience with dual purpose, adventure, etc type riding, but I’m told this style boot is what a person wants for that sort of thing. These boots are HEAVY DUTY! The area of the boot around the ankle and the part that goes up the leg is very stiff and thick like a motocross boot. The material over the top of the foot is also stiff, but only because the material is heavy duty, so I think that part would break in over time. The sole is a typical molded rubber compound for street use (although it is even a bit more heavy duty than most). Gore-Tex material makes the boot waterproof. We took pictures of the boot (take the “View Larger Pictures” link above) with pants tucked in so you could see the boot better. The pants had knee armor that extended down the shin, so buckling the boots over the armor was trouble (I should have removed it, but I didn’t realize the armor was a two piece design… maybe just for this purpose). Wearing the boots only over socks (pants not tucked in) works just fine. Again, I really don’t know what a person would want in a boot for dual purpose, but if heavy duty is a key factor, then this your boot!
