The On Road boot has been a favorite of motorcyclists for years. And beginning in early ‘07 this boot is now made waterproof with genuine Gore-Tex. Gore-Tex is a well regarded material with the unique property of keeping water out while allowing for water vapor (produced by the wearer) to escape. In previous years, the boots used a waterproofing material called Tepor which is very popular in Europe (where the boots are made), but Gore-Tex is better known in the US, so the change was made. The overall design and style of the boot is for street riding, commuting and touring. The boots are tall and sturdy with a very secure Velcro closure system. They can be worn with pants over or with pants tucked in (depending upon your riding style and your preference in motorcycle protection). The boot is made of top grain leather so it will need a bit of breaking in to be comfortable. In addition to the heavy leather construction, there is built in armor in the shin, heel, toe and the inside ankle area. These armor pieces are rigid pieces that add thickness and stiffness in those areas in case of impact. The soles are a heavy duty lug design for long wear. Note about the sole of this boot: Sizes 48, 49 and 50 in this boot have a different sole design that the one show to the picture at the right. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to view the sole design of those two larger sizes.
