Our Two Cents

A short hiking style boot like this is a favorite with a lot of people for street riding. The boots are easy-on, easy-off and since they look a lot like street shoe styles, they can be worn anywhere comfortably. For touring riders and commuters, it means you don’t necessarily have to pack other boots for use off the bike. The Jupiter 2 has some design features to make it “motorcycle friendly” such as the lower profile sole and the Velcro-close flap over the laces. The boots have some reinforcements built into the toe box and heel area and there is also some extra padding around the ankle. The protection in these boots isn’t as substantial as with full-on motorcycle boots, but they seem appropriate for a shorter, lightweight design like this. The boots have a Gore-Tex mid-liner to make them waterproof. Keep in mind though that this is a short boot so rain can easily enter over the top, but if your pants are long enough and will shed water around the boots, then you’ll be OK. And just for walking around in wet weather, you’ll appreciate the waterproof capability. I find the boots to be extremely comfortable right out of the box and they are sharp looking as well. I can see myself wearing these on or off the bike and liking them a lot. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see some good close-up pics of this boot and its features.
