The Speedstar short gloves offer high quality protection in a comfortable short cuff style. I think this glove will be popular with the everyday sport riders that are looking for good protection and the superior feel for the controls of a race glove, but don’t want a full race gauntlet. The back of the hand is protected by a molded knuckle protector (under the Airblade), and smaller rubber armor pieces on the fingers. Located at the base of the palm are two hard plastic armor pieces that will not only offer abrasion protection, but will also act as a slider of sorts to help prevent your wrist from being twisted when making contact with the pavement. Even with all of this armor and padding the gloves are surprisingly comfortable and the kangaroo hide palm is soft and should give a great feel for the controls. And what about the “Airblade” feature? Hmmm, well the idea is that the Airblade will help to channel airflow through the vents located directly behind it. I haven’t gotten on a bike with these gloves, so I can’t comment as to the effectiveness of this system, but I’d bet it’s more a styling gimmick than a useful feature and the blade itself seems a bit flimsy. But nevertheless, this is a terrific glove considering the comfort and protective features and certainly last but not least, the closeout price!
