Here is a simple textile jacket design which will keep you dry and protected. This jacket offers a built in waterproof lining that should effectively keep out water. The lining’s seams are taped so it should be as effective as a rain jacket at keeping water off your clothing underneath. Of course there is always the possibility of water entering through the cuffs or collar, but otherwise, this jacket should work well. The outer shell of this jacket is typical ballistic nylon material. You get a CE rated set of armor for the shoulders, elbows and back. The back protector is an energy absorbing type that is better than most “stock” back protectors. Sleeve adjusters are included to help secure the armor in position. The jacket has zippered venting to admit some air, but keep in mind that air will not pass through the waterproof inner liner. The cooling air will help, but it won’t be as good as with jackets that allow the air from zippered vents to pass all the way through to your skin. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend this jacket for very warm weather use. However, it should work quite well in colder weather. The jacket comes with a full sleeve removable thermal liner which seems to be better than most you would find in a jacket in this price range.
