Sizing Information
The size indicated on these pants is about right when worn over underwear or very light pants. But when worn over jeans, we are recommending you buy one size larger than your jean size. If you are between sizes, then just buy the larger of the two sizes (example, if you sometimes are a 34 in jeans and sometimes a 36 then buy a 36 in this pant). Consult the chart below for inseam measurements:
Pant Size | Inseam |
30 | 30 |
32 | 31 |
34 | 32 |
36 | 32 |
38 | 32.5 |
40 | 33 |
42 | 33 |
44 | 34 |
Our Two Cents
The Moto GP brand GP Overpants are just the ticket for those who want protection and comfort when on the bike, especially during inclement weather. These pants have long side zippers, kind of like chaps, so you can use them over your street clothes. When you get where you are going, you can unzip and step out of them without having to find a place to change clothes. You can even do this easily with boots on. Ideal for commuters and touring riders. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see the side zipper feature. The pant construction is a combination of waterproof textile outer shell, a nylon inner liner and a removable quilted thermal liner. The combination of all three will really work well in cold or cold/wet conditions. In warmer weather, you can remove the quilted liner for comfort. The armor supplied for the knees is a simple foam material installed in a fabric pocket. The pocket is held in place by Velcro which allows you to adjust the position of the knee armor up or down an inch or two so you can get it in just the right place for your leg length. You also get some thin foam armor in the hips. We sell FirstGear’s Core-Comp armor as an upgrade for their overpants (they come with the same simple foam armor inserts), and we’ve confirmed the Core-Comp will work with the armor pocket in these pants as well, so consider this for a better impact protection option for the knees (take the link below). In case you were wondering, the optional Hiprotech armor for the hips of FirstGear pants won’t fit these pants, but it’s not much of an improvement over what you get as standard.

These pants are great and offer a terrific value. The thermal liner is good to 30 degrees and they are waterproof. They are warm at anything higher than 70 degrees if you are stuck in traffic. (Read more...)
