Our Two Cents

The Laguna GPS Tank Bag from FirstGear has a roomy main compartment with separate compartments for electronic accessories. The GPS compartment is unique, it can be totally concealed when not in use, but it opens up and secures itself into position facing the rider. There is also a separate compartment for MP3, cell phone etc… Both of these compartments have waterproof gates that lead to the interior following Velcro routing straps leading to the waterproof gate exit point on the exterior facing the rider. The main compartment interior is fully lined, this bag maintains it shape when empty, and the Carbon Fiber look panels complete the look of the exterior. This bag features a dual purpose mounting base that can be used in magnetic or strap mount applications. Removal of the mounting base exposes the built in backpack straps, and the mounting base can be used as a stand alone map pocket. The built in rain cover has it’s own storage pocket and an adjustable shoulder strap is included.

Note About The Mounting System: You will see this bag advertised by FirstGear and other retailers as having a mounting system that can be used in magnetic, strap mount, and suction cup modes. I was skeptical of how all these methods can be accomplished through one mounting base. Magnetic and strap mount checked out good, the suction cups are designed to attach to the magnets using a bolt and nut. Long story short, the bolt on the suction cup is to short, it would not make it far enough through the magnet to allow the nut to be properly secured. For this reason we do not acknowledge the “suction cup” mounting capabilities of this bag. Click on the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see corresponding photos to this note.
