Icon Timax 2 Leather Jacket

Wow, this jacket looks like something out of a Sci-Fi flick, don’t you think? This is Icon’s best leather sport jacket and it offers a ton of features you won’t find on any other sport style jacket. As the name implies, you get real titanium metal armor plates on the back and shoulders. Functional? I guess they improve crash protection to some degree, but primarily it’s “the look” that appeals. Most of the body of the jacket is made of thick cowhide. The back area is more or less a built-in back protector which consists of padded panels covered in an abrasion resistant fabric and the titanium plate. The entire back protector is quite long and feels like it would really do a good job in case of a fall. Since it’s made up of individual plates, it flexes easily and it’s comfortable. The shoulder armoring is much like the back protector… fabric covered foam and titanium and the elbows have more traditional “turtle shell” type removable armor under the leather. Climate control? Not much really for hot weather. There are a couple small zippered vents near the shoulders, but that’s about it for flow- through ventilation. You get a removable full-sleeve thermal liner to keep you warm though. I’d recommend this jacket for cold to warm weather riding, but on hot days, it’s likely to be a “cooker”.
