Alpinestars offers about the best crash protection in a mesh jacket style. It comes standard with CE rated molded rubber protectors in the shoulders and elbows (not unlike other brand jackets), but it also comes with a foam back pad and foam pads in the chest area. These pads are simple foam construction, but they can be upgraded to a more substantial CE rated version (see below). A good portion of the shell of this jacket is a mesh material that will let the air blow right through. A more substantial solid textile material is used in potential impact areas (elbows and shoulders). The jacket comes with a removable, full-sleeve windproof liner. The liner is useful on cool mornings or mountain passes to extend the comfort range of the jacket. The liner can pack into a small space when not in use. The jacket includes a full circumference zipper for connection to Alpinestars pants.
