FirstGear Jaunt Textile Jacket
Sizing Information:
You can consult sizing information from FirstGear to choose a size based upon your height and weight and also considering the sizes you normally wear in men’s clothing. Tall sizes: FirstGear offers this jacket in talls. The body and sleeves of the jackets are 1 1/2 to 2 inches taller than the “standard” cut jackets. If you normally have to buy “talls” then these should work for you.
The Jaunt jacket offers a 3/4 style jacket for street or touring in a design that is a bit less expensive than FirstGear’s Kilimanjaro series. I count four large cargo pockets on the front and one inside zippered breast pocket which should be fine for most people’s needs. For climate control, you get two zippered chest vents (waterproof zippers) and one rear exhaust zipper. And for cold weather, you can use the full sleeve removable thermal liner. The main differences in this jacket as opposed to the Kilimanjaro are 1) this jacket has regular pouch pockets rather than the more elaborate “cargo storage system”, 2) no bota bladder pocket (Kilimanjaro does), 3) this jacket utilizes a waterproof shell to keep out rain where the Kilimanjaro uses a waterproof/breathable mid-liner. Since the Kilimanjaro uses the mid liner to keep out water, they can use a more flexible and appealing nylon material for the shell where the shell of this jacket is more like most others on the market; more stiff and “swishy” when you move. For crash protection you get FirstGear’s CE approved “Evolution” armor which is a turtle shell type; very substantial. You also get a foam back pad.
