FirstGear TPG Escape Textile Pants
Sizing Information:
The waist band on these pants is oversized with the idea you’ll be wearing them over other pants (measured waist is approximately 2” larger than stated pant size), so for use as an over-pant, you’ll want to buy the size you normally buy in men’s jeans or slacks. The pants are offered in short and tall versions, so you can consult the chart below to pick the best inseam. Predictably, the short verssion are 2” shorter than normal and the talls are 2” taller than normal.

I am really impressed with the TPG Escape pants. I believe they are one of the best touring pants we offer for functionality and protection. The overall fit and finish is excellent giving the impression of an expensive (which they are), well made garment. The waterproofing in these pants looks to be very effective. All of the pockets have waterproof zippers and are overlapped with waterproof flaps. For cold weather use, the pants have a full length zip out insulated liner that is easier to install and remove than most. For use in warmer weather, there are two zippered vents on the outside of the thighs. I wouldn’t expect these to be highly effective, but they will extend the comfortable temperature range at least a little. For protection, these pants, like many textile pants, have CE approved armor in the knees, but instead of thin foam padding in the hips (or no padding at the hips) you get sturdy CE approved armor which should provide excellent protection. For night time visibility there is a generous amount of reflective material running down the legs of the pants. To help with fit, the waist has Velcro adjustment on both sides of the pants. There is a 10” connection zipper for attachment to compatible FirstGear jackets. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see some good closeups of these pants and their features.
