Our Two Cents

The Dakota II jacket would be a great all season jacket for street riders and touring riders. The overall style is a very basic black, which is very popular with cruiser bike fans. And unlike many jackets aimed at cruiser riders, this one is not covered with flames (and such), so those of you who want just a plain old jacket with the basic convenience, comfort and safely features, please consider this one. Let’s talk about climate control. This jacket has a second main zipper with mesh panels on each side under the main zipper. In hot weather, you can leave the main zipper open which will expose the mesh air vent that runs the length of the torso to give you maximum venting on an otherwise waterproof textile jacket. The two exhaust vents on the back allow for air to flow through the jacket and they are covered with waterproof zippers in case you get caught in the rain. Speaking of rain… there is a rain flap that can be closed behind both main zippers that will allow you to keep dry. You also get a nice full sleeve thermal liner that will keep you warm down to low temperatures. On a hot day you can remove this thermal liner. The storage on this jacket is pretty standard. There are two hand warmer pockets, an internal document pocket, and an internal patch pocket. As far as protection goes… this jacket comes with a dual density spine pad (which can be upgraded to a CE approved pad, see below) and CE approved shoulder and elbow armor. The Power Trip Dakota 2 jacket is very comfortable and fits well. The thermal liner does a great job of keeping you warm and the mesh zipper is good for cooling down in the heat. The vent and pocket zippers are a bit stiff, but they just need to be broken in. (Read more...)
